Yvette Wright is a Licensed Sales Consultant with Harcourts Grenadier and is based in Beckenham, Christchurch. She reached out to The Christchurch Aunties last month with an incredibly kind gesture. Yvette will donate 5% of her commission for every house sale. This will make a difference to the refuges we work with. We also acknowledge the trust that has been placed in us. We asked Yvette why supporting The Christchurch Aunties was important to her. These are her words:

I have been looking to support a charity or waiting for one to speak to me for some years. I knew it had to be a cause I felt a connection to, a shared experience.

A charity that works in conjunction with Refuges supporting families who are and have experienced domestic violence is close to my heart, so the Christchurch Aunties was an obvious choice with the incredible work they do.

My sister and I grew up in a very abusive and violent home and although we survived this experience, we still carry the scars today, and not just the physical ones.  You do learn as you get older to “get on” with your life and become hopefully a productive member of society. I feel by supporting other women to live a better life and knowing the children are safe and away from harm is such a lovely way of honouring my survival and mine and my sisters’ journey.

I am so humbled and feel privileged to do what I can to support the Christchurch Aunties and therefore pay it forward.
