The Christchurch Aunties is a not-for-profit organisation. We don’t receive government funding; therefore, we rely solely on the generosity of grant makers, foundations, trusts, and the ahora.
We are the epitome of community spirit - collecting and delivering donations across Christchurch, and supported by local volunteers.

Your donations keep The Christchurch Aunties moving – quite literally! Every contribution helps us:
- Keep our van on the road to collect and deliver donated furniture.
- Cover the rent for our warehouse, where we sort and store items before they reach women and families.
- Pay our dedicated staff members who keep everything running.

Give Time - Become an Aunties Volunteer
Keen on lending a hand?
We are blessed to have our awesome Aunties, who volunteer with us. Some make it a regular weekly thing, they come to HQ on a set morning and give us a hand sorting donated goods, organising the warehouse shelving, and putting together requested items from our collaborating agencies.
Some volunteer to help out with pickups and deliveries, when needed. Some of our volunteers have specific skills we call on, from time to time.
And sometimes we put out the call and its 'all hands on deck' for a campaign or fundraiser.

Donate supplies and essentials
Sometimes the simplest items can make the biggest difference. Families starting over often need the basics. Kitchen essentials like pots, pans, plates, and glasses – as well as furniture such as sofas and beds, bedding, and everyday household items to help turn a house into a home.
We kindly ask that all donations are in good condition. A good rule of thumb is: if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, please don’t give it to the Christchurch Aunties.
Because our storage space is limited, we aren’t always able to accept every item offered. Please don’t be offended if we have to say no. We want to make sure we’re taking in only what we can use and pass on quickly to the families who need them most.
